Marzipan is a newbie here

#1 Post by Marzipan »

I already wrote something in the "My Braces Story" part, before I noticed this place for saying "Hi." So here am I - nicknamed Marzipan in real life, probably because I'm so sweet. ;)

Thank you very very much to the owner of this board for providing the service! In deciding whether or not to get braces as an adult, this board is incredibly helpful. I read lots of stories here and looked at the pictures. It was great to read actual accounts from people about what hurts, what doesn't, what kinds of treatments are used for different orthodontic situations. It was especially helpful to see almost 100% of people saying that it is worth it, and also to see the incredible before & after pictures that people have posted. They are absolutely amazing.

I am taking the plunge; the separators are in and although I was afraid it would hurt, it didn't hurt much at all. Next Tuesday they start putting on the brackets.

Cheers, all!

Hi, KK. I do see adults with braces around my town. It is not a large town but there's a large university here - The University of Iowa. It has a teaching college of dentistry and my ortho is a professor here. Some of the dental students themselves are in braces!

I have a friend a few years older than I am who had hers done a few years back, and another professor I know (a bit younger than myself) also had them. And everyone at work knows I'm a wacky, witty chick, so I won't mind sharing the jokes about being Tin Grin.

This board is very nice also. It's a scary process and all these stories from others are very helpful.
