New to the Board.. Just got Braced!

Hey everyone! My name is Lauren.. i'm a 26 y.o. married, mom of 2 boys who lives in PA. I just got braces for the 2nd time yesterday.. i had them from 11-13, on just the top. I chose ceramic top braces.. i go back in a month to get the bottem (metal) ones put on.
I don't remember this much PAIN!! UGHHH.. plus, my 2 year old little boy keeps staring at my mouth!!
At least i got to enjoy thanksgiving before they got put on.. so, how long does it take to eat normal food & "forget" that you are wearing them??

Edited to add.. i have TMJ.. my jaws always clicked & locked in the mornings.. but i could always get my mouth open.. until last month.. i can open my mouth enough to eat & talk.. but no yawns for me.. the plan is to pull my bottem jaw forward, then widen my top jaw & push back my front teeth... all this.. & HOPEFULLY i can have a normal bite then!!!

My dentist spoke BRIEFLY about surgery, as being a last resort.. he basically said that it causes alot more problems that what it fixes.. so i certainly hope that i don't have to go through 2 years of braces, THEN surgery.. but my jaw is still locked, so i am uncomfortable from the braces AND my jaw still hurts.. sounds like a crappy deal for me huh??
