Got Braces Monday, November 28th, 2005

I love this website. It is so good to know that there are other adults that have decided that it's never too late for the perfect smile, so I did it too. I got my braces last Monday at the age of 27.5. Right now, I'm on a two year plan with Jaw Surgery in the mix. I meet with my Oral Surgeon next Friday to discuss what will be needed. I feel comfortable so far because my Orthodontist has already met with him and gone over my profile. The only question I have so far is does the term getting used to the braces mean that eventually, I won't feel like there is something always on my teeth?

Well, it's official. My mouth is amazing to most. I had my consultation from my oral surgeon yesterday. The good news I got from my consultation is that I won't be getting my wisodom teeth out. My bottom two are so low that they are possibly attached to the nerve so I would be at high risk for nerve damage in my lip if he tries to remove them. The top two are so close to my sinus cavity that if they are removed it will leave an opening. The bad news is that my open bite is so bad that I will require surgery. Both top and possibly bottom. My bottom jaw is off alignment by 3mm. I have attached some pictures linked below. Feel free to take a look and give an opinion. And yes, I am closing my teeth. Only my back molars are touching.
