Hi gang, I've been lurking here for a few weeks and thought it was time to introduce myself. I'm 26 yrs old and I live in South Carolina. I've never been braced. I had my spacers put in 013006, and I've been eating soup ever since. I suspect these things have caused my crown to loosen! :-(*

According to my ortho I have:

25% Overbite
Not enough room for all of the lower teeth to line up properly
Overjet-1-2mm :?:
Upper and lower jaws and teeth correctly positioned in face
Balanced facial symetry
Both upper and lower lips stick out somewhat (Umm okay...)
X-ray showed normal architecture w/ no pathology-3rd molars out
TMJ-no history of TMD-occasional clicking
Good oral hygiene

Okay now that the technical stuff is out of the way, basically my bottom row of teeth has a rougish tooth that is pushed back farther than its brethren. My bottom midline is off, and my gap is also trying to sneak in, so it's time to nip this mess the bud. I'm scheduled to get upper and lower metal braces. Not sure if they'll have ligs or not. I wanted gold but they would have had to use a silver arch wire. Estimated treatment time 12 months or less to be followed by top and bottom retainers. I'm getting braced 020606.

Well... I've learned a lot from reading the previous posts on the board and I definitely feel it has helped me prepare for this journey. 'Nough said, let's get ready to rumble!

Hello and Welcome Kia :D If you happen to find any interesting soup flavors, I know of a few people on this board who would love to hear.

welcome to the forum!

I guess today is brace day huh? remember to eat right after you get them in- you'll be sore tonight!

the first 3 days are awful, but I promise they will get better! :) remember to try and take it easy, get lots of sleep, use tons of wax and rinse your mouth with warm salt water- any problems come here and tell us! we want pictures too btw ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Lucyloop: Yes, you read the date correctly!

KK: Check out my ligs 8)

johnnys_angel: Outback steakhouse has a cheesey onion soup that's outta this world kind of like french onion meets fondue

belmikry: Yes it was the big day it only took about an hour and a half. The ortho tech told me it was very very important to eat real food today (not soup) that it will help work through the soreness. Not sore at all at this point, but we'll see how I feel tomorrow! :-1

Well guys so far so good! No pain...feeling quite comfortable except I smacked my top teeth into my bottom teeth while singing along with the radio this morning...owie! I can eat pretty normally and no cut up mouth to speak of (knock on wood). Hopefully it will be this easy for the entire experience!
