Teeth becoming crooked after braces

#1 Post by bracesmom »

I got my first tightening. I have a palatal expander. I have noticed one of my molars is going buck from my expander pushing it out. I have also noticed my bottom teeth which were crowded are fanning upward and out. It looks worse than before, although they aren't as crowed. It's frustrating. I talked with my ortho's assistant and she told me sometimes they do get worse before better as the have to expand my bite to make room for my teeth--then they will work on straightening them. Anyone else experience this?

I haven't experienced anything worse yet (though I had teeth removed so the weird crowding isn't something that will prob happen with me) but LOTS of people on this message board have discussed this. totally normal.

Thanks, I just needed that validation that it's okay for it to happen. Going through the braces diaries was very encouraging to see challenging teeth situations turn into beautiful smiles.
