Braces Quad Helix Expander and elastics 13/02/06

#1 Post by Dingo »

Hi Everyone :D

I`am a 32 male and i had Braces fitted top & bottom plus a Quad Helix Expander and elastics on the 13/02/06

I had been looking forward to them being fitted the start of a journey to straight teeth
My Dentist must of forgot to tell me about the pro`s and con`s and i never thought to ask!

I hadn`t given it much thought about eating ( What a bloody shook that was  ) I work as a Feild Servicee Engineer and have had lunch out of my trusty butty box for many a year never thought about what i was going to be eating err drinking for lunch for the next ??? weeks
Well probally like many others i`ve been drinking soap (cup-a-soap) for lunch for the last 7 days (i gave the soap a miss over the weekend)
The teeth don`t hurt to much now unless i try to bite (a big NO NO!) i had/do a habbit of grinding my teeth when asleep and i think i must of been doing that last night i woke up this morning with 2 real SORE front teeth, the only 2 that make contact since the braces went on to add with the sores from the brackets plus the Quad Helix Expander rubbing on my tounge making that sore and as for the speech well some of the customers have given me some funny looks till i`ve explained that i`ve had a brace fitted then they start to ask questions why did ya have that fitted, didn`t think you could haave them at your age,how long have you got them for i don`t about the rest of you but i`ve got tired of telling the story(answering the questions) aready and i`am only on day10!!!

Hark at me moaning after 10 days (i see it throu to the end mind)
I think it would of been nice to of know a bit more before hand my fault probally for not finding this web site sooner!

I`ve gone on to long aready every ones probally gone to sleep by time they get down to this line so i think ill call it a day

Thanks for the welcome KK

Thanks also for the tips

Its not to bad today so things are looking up my denist gave me dental silicon wax which is C*@P i must say
Instrutions dry area to be treated hmmm i`ll just get my dentist`s mini air line out and give my mouth a blow... dry the area to be treated. If only, the dam stuff never stay where you put for long
I went to 2 drug stores to see if i could get something else but they didn`t
O well as long as it stays like it has been today or gets better still i can live with that

Welcome Dingo!

I was trying to figure out what the 13th month of the year was in your title. I realized, other countries don't write out the date the same as we do in the U.S. .

Anyway, I too can relate to your discomfort. Though, when my palatal expander and braces were first put on, it didn't seem to give me as much grief as it is you. My main complaint was all those darned canker sores and the sensitivity when biting down. It wasn't until my first adjustment (that I was told shouldn't hurt as bad) did it hurt. I started the "PAIN" thread here. I found pasta's easy to eat. In fact, my palatal expander aided in the breaking down of the noodles..Sorry, too much information?

I'm surprised you've had so many days of discomfort. I'll bet the pain will pay off though!

Take care

Hi bracesmom

How about this 13th feb 2006 no one can mistake this date can they tell you the truth i didn`t realize that anyone put it down differently

The pains nearly compleately gone now almost like magic!!! :D

Still a bit sore bitting anything harder than bread! still can`t chew a bisciut so no option but to dunk them instead:wink:

Taking for longer than say 3/4 min`s seems to be hard the longer i talk the harder it seems to get ? it seems to me that my lip`s seem to drag on the braces after i`ve been talking for a while??
Any idea`s of how to get round this one?

Catch ya later
