Why do my ligs look different???

I had my first adjustment last week and they put my ligs on differently. The ones on my two front teeth are in the shape of an x and some of the other ones look like to lopsided parallel lines. The 1st time they were all just in a circular shape around the bracket. I'm sure there is a reason why they change them, but does anyone know what it is? Forget the Da Vinci Code, I need to break the Ortho tx code!
Thanks for your help,

I agree with KK; you can get a pretty good idea of how your ortho wants a tooth to be moved based on the ligs...
My canine that is in a crossbite position has a wire tie and lig on just one side...it's not around the whole bracket. So that tooth is moving towards the right, where the wire tie and lig are positioned...
Wow

Very interesting. I've never had those X ones before. I always have had the regular ones. O.o I've seen alot of braces and I have to say I'd like to see those ones as well.

By the "x" are you refering to the ligs going in an infinity or figure "8" way around the bracket?? That's how all of mine have been. I was surprised to some pictures here where it is an "o" over the whole bracket. I thought maybe it was just an ortho preference.

Yes, it is a figure 8. But it is only like that on my two front teeth and the teeth on either side of those. The others have what looks like 3 diagonal lines or maybe a sideways "s" It is hard to explain. But I am positive they were all o-shaped before. I am beginning to believe there is some connection between the x's and the pain in my front teeth that won't go away

The majority of my lower right hand side have the figure 8 ligs, including the incisor and the lateral.
I've always assumed it was because more force was needed on that section.
Just like with a ponytail band, the more you loop it around the tigher it will hold it in place.

Same here, I would have thought that a figure of 8 would mean more force.

I always have a few figure 8's, but not all.
