#1 Post by river »

Hiya, (please read all the way throught)

i wanted to see my dentist today but the girl who i spoke to booked me in for a ortho appointment, even thought i said to her not my ortho , i need to see the dentist for a check up! my ortho was away so i had to see a different ortho, he was very nice and said my teeth were starting to look straight and seemed very happy.

anyway i said to him im sorry there seems to be a problem, i came here today to see a dentist ! i i explained what had happened , he was nice and said dont worry il book you in now it will be about a 20 min wait so i said thank you and left to wait down stairs.

HERES WERE THE PROBLEMS REALLY BEGINS:

I got called into see the dentist who iv never met before and sit down , the second he looks in my mouth he starts asking me questions
when was the last time you saw the ortho?
today but apart from today it was 5 weeks ago.
when was the last time you saw a dentist?
where did you have your teeth taken out ready for braces?
at this practise.

so he carrys on with the check up and when he's finished he said really agressively, you have got four big gaps ( this was were my teeth were taken out ready for braces) , only your front teeth are lining up straight, dont let them take off your braces without you being happy with your teeth, and what is the name of my ortho !!!!!

im really worried , i do have big gaps and my teeth are nearly straight !!!!!!! does this mean my dream of perfect teeth is gone forever how can i bring back teeth they have took out !! what if they didnt need to be taken out in the first place !!!

2 orthos seem happy , 1 dentist really angre at what the orthos have done !!! im so confused and angre :(

That destist sounds like a jerk that has no idea what he's talking about. I'm sure if two REAL orthos say your teeth are fine then they probably are.

Doesn't sound like he has the greatest chairside personality. But, since your post siggy shows you only have 2 months until your braces come off, he may have just been concerned (if he knew your debonding date) that your treatment not be rushed until it was absolutely complete.

I'd just relax and put my faith in my ortho, but still be aware of what needs to be corrected before you're finished.

It doesn't sound quite right to have big gaps after orthodontia. I would ask the orthodontist about how he or she will handle closing the gaps before debanding.
