I just got braces on 9/22. As you can tell in the photo below I have a gap b/w my front teeth caused by pallet expansion surgery. My next appointment is not for another 6-8 weeks. Then I will get power chains. My question is, is the Arch wire doing anything right now as it pertains to the gap? Or is it just aligning other teeth?

I think your wires are serving to level and align your brackets even with each other so thatna space cloasing chain can be placed so it will effectively slide the teeth on the wire.

Also, it's good to have 6-8 weeks of bone formation in the palatal suture so that we are not putting teeth where there is no bone.
