What does a T-Bar do?

A T-Bar, that's what my ortho called it, but it doesn't look at all like a T. I'm guessing the T is short for something?? Anyways, the bar goes from my upper molar bands across my palate, and just sits there. I had extractions right beside my molars done last week, so I'm guessing it's some kind of an anchor to keep those molars in place?

I will include a picture later... but now I have to go back to work.

It's likely a Transpalatal arch.

Does it look similar to this? http://www.fine.com.au/images/transpalatal.jpg

...Sounds like a nance/ TPA. I've got mine to stop the back teeth moving in to the space for my canines to come down in to.

They are a pain in the bum to clean! :(

Good luck!

Take care

Yep, that's almost exactly what it looks like.

And yes, it's a pain in the butt to clean. I ended up hitting my front teeth multiple times tonight when I was trying to brush it. Boy, was I NOT a happy camper after that!
