I'm new to the site (I love it! ;D) and I am just so sick of wearing braces. I'm 20 years old, and I have had them for 12 monthes now. I think my teeth look great, and I was told that after I get the braces off, I would need to wear a retainer for a year continually, then for a year after that, just at night. & then after that, permanent retainer would be put in place. My question is...if I have them taken off now (my Dr. told me another 5 or 6 monthes is in order), and I have the permanent retainer put on, will that keep them in place?(I want them off because as a student, I cannot afford to have them any longer;x My insurance does not cover it, and my parents don't want to cover the rest of the treatment, because they deem it to be unnecessary)
