leveling my bite?

Dr.J.--At my last appointment my ortho told me to continue with the elastics to continue to level my bite. I've given it some thought and I really don't have a clue what that means. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks

Here is a great site that talks about all the phases of ortho. I think it might be a bit outdated and maybe also a bit too detailed for most but if you give it a good look you will totally understand what leveling teeth does:
