moving a canine with a retainer

I had my braces removed almost 8 years ago. They were used to fix some crowding and to make space for an impacted upper canine. Now the canine has been moving inwards and touching my lower canine. I have worn various retainers faithfully for the past 8 years...Is there a retainer than can be used to push this canine back into position? I've heard spring retainers can only be used for small incisor movement...thanx =)
