They're off- with pics!

#1 Post by BraceMD »

My damon 3's have been off for 1 week!

Total treatment time: 16 months

Retention: Currently wearing a POSITIONER at night- a big huge mouthguard thing. It's not too bad... I will get a Hawley retainer next Monday.

Notice the bleeding gums and weird gumline...

For some reason, my gums bled constantly for the first 4 days of having my braces off. My ortho said he'd never seen that before. It was painful and frankly, I couldn't brush very well.

And my gumline... notice how my gums are sort of uneven such that my teeth look different sizes. I don't like that at all. My ortho is going to do laser gumline contouring- I've known I would have that done. But I'm realizing that it's not going to totally correct the gumline- on some teeth there's just too much gum!

I've been slowly whitening... and it's helping immensly with my yellowed, dental-fluorosis teeth.

But all in all, I'm happy. Here's a front shot that I touched up to make my teeth look nice and white:

The look gorgeous, BraceMD. :flowerbloom: Very pretty smile.

Glad the bite positioner wasn't too bad. I get mine next Wednesday, the 18th.
Had Damon 3 / Smart Clips for almost 2 years
Now in Hawley upper 10 hours/day, permanent lower retainers

First of all, your teeth look awesome.

I noticed that you have similar teeth shaping as I do... the incisor and center fronts appear larger than the rest and the gum line isn't flat. Even though your teeth look great either way, mine may be worse than yours. So, let us know how the gum contouring goes. Also, how much does the gum contouring cost?

My ortho does it as part of my treatment, so there's no additional cost. That was part of my reason for choosing him, that he was certified in that.

You definately have a beautiful smile.. Sometimes I think we all can be a bit too particular and think that things aren't perfect, but honestly I think everyone would be proud to have a smile like yours..

Congrats and hope the gum contouring goes well

It's like a big mouthguard, similar to a sports mouthguard but larger and tighter. It's annoying but now I'm only wearing it one hour a day so it's bearable.
