Totally frustrated!!!!

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

Totally frustrated!!!!

#1 Post by Brooke »

I wrote a post about how my retainer was really tight and how I felt it was changing my bite after almost a full year of being in retainers with a perfect bite. Well, the retainer is changing my bite and I went to the ortho yesterday and told him to check them and he said they were okay but I know i feel that the way the retainer is, something is wrong. Call it instinct. I feel that my bite is not the same. There is a piece of the hawley retainer that is pushing two teeth apart. I am mad and upset because I've had no problems during the year getting the retainer adjusted and my bite stayed put. Now I get it adjusted and its way too tight and ruins my bite. I have to call again tomorrow and ask to sit down with the ortho again. I thought that after a year of being out of braces and having my perfect bite, one adjustment ruined it. I am hoping that whatever damage has been done, is reversible. I can't imagine that this ruined what progress I had made. Anyone else have this happen? Also, what can orthos do for us that are debanded that have bite issues like mine from an adjustment gone wrong so to say? Thanks.

If you feel something wrong, don't leave until he fix it; because you won't stop thinking about it. Anyway, why was your retainer adjusted on your last appointment?
