I'm FINALLY Brace Free!!! (with pics)

On May 23rd, 2007 and after 15 months, I FINALLY got my braces removed. I had a choice in which retainers to get and I chose the Hawley upper and lower. Right know I dont know if it was a wise decision, because I work in a hospital and my speech is slurred. I think I sound like Bugs Bunny. I do hope that my speech will get back to normal soon. Is there any hope?!?!?! Also, My the front wire of my retainers are embedded in a clear piece of acrylic. Anyone else have this with their Hawley's and/or know why?

Congrats on debracing, your teeth look great. Be patient, you'll learn how to speak with that Hawley. My ortho gave me Hawley and Essix. Hawley at night and Essix during the day. Today, he put a permament retainer on the bottom, so now I only have to deal with the tops.

Yip after almost 4 years!! Can you believe it?

I have the same type of retainers. Practice does make the speech better but more often than not I take them out. Especially if I'm on the phone!
