I got de-braced today, and I got retainers. At first my speech was odd. I sounded all odd, but my concern is:
I'm gagging now once in awhile when I talk due to my Hawly Retainers.
Will this gagging go away?

Thanks for the info!Meryaten wrote:Most likely.
Work hard at breathing through your nose as much as you can, and relax your tongue as much as you can.
I personally found that by the morning following getting the retainers, I was doing much much better - like sleeping in them helped me adjust.
(And trust me - I gag easily)
I have another question, my lower Retainers are a bit off. When I fitted them on today at my ortho, I told them they felt weird, and he adjusted them, but they are uneven on the sides, and when I bite down, my wire on my right side moves.
On the front lower teeth, the wire isn't straight. I think its because of the unevenness. Will anything bad happen? Or should I just go back to my orthodontist?

Well, I had a good nights sleep, and now, I'm not gagging! I just had to get used to the whole retainer in my mouth idea!
Thanks for the help. My top retainer isn't scooped out that much but he did scoop it a bit. And now there is no rough spot on the top. But its fine. I'll get used to it...hopefully!
