I agree, I would go in and have this settled.

This movement happened with the bonded retainer? How is it bonded, on all 6 teeth or just on the two canines?

Yikes! You're teeth shifted quite a lot. I would go in and talk to your ortho.

My bonded retainer is cemented or glued or whatever to the back of each tooth....

i guess my next question would be how to go about all of this. i cant just go in there and say i hate my teeth. i absolutly love my ortho, and feel like i bother him with pretty much any of my questions. people on this message board may not know this but i am QUITE SHY. Basically, it will be really hard for me to go about bringing this up. do i say "Gee i think my teeth have moved a bit since i had braces." or "do you think my teeth have moved a lot since i got my braces off" or oh gosh i just dont know how to bring this up at all. i just feel like i am hurting his feelings or something.....its really hard to explain, its just how i feel in my head...lol...

SOooo....Some advice on how to bring this up..PLEASE...if i dont know how to word it i might just chicken out and say nothing at all....im serious...

THANKS SO MUCH ALL!

Hi,

sorry to hear about this Lala.

But don't be shy about this. It is the job of an orthodontist to give someone a good
dental treatment. One that satisfies both the ortho and the patient. But also, the
ortho would not be so happy to see the result is "fading away". So I think he would
on the contrary be happy I guess to see what is happening so he can do something
about it. Call it the pride of the job. I would do what Meryaten just said. Ask for an
appointment and just tell you are concerned. I think too there is some shifting going
on. Better not letting this continue.

IM just a little confused about something. i was at the ortho last week and while i was there my ortho looked at my teeth a little....you know the whole open, close, open close thing and really didnt say anything about how my teeth looked. i would have said something then, but i kind of had an emergency appointment and really needed to get back to work as soon as i could. i guess my main concern is that if i had to get braces again, i would not be able to pay for them. my parents paid for my ortho work originally, and since my mom doesnt see that my teeth have moved, she wouldnt pay for braces again. Its very aggervating to just sit here and look at 4 retainers, knowing that only one of them really fits. My essix retainers that i got just after my braces came off....they wouldnt fit in a million years, my teeth have changed too much. i have another retainer that i was wearing for my bottom teeth but it cracked, i guess too much teeth to move and it couldnt handle it.

I think i might just stop in next tuesday.(he is only in the office where i live on tuesdays and fridays) he said last week that i could stop by whenever i want. i will go in there to get my excess glue/cement removed and while im there hopefully talk to DR. V. ive been in there once before to talk about my teeth moving, but it was a long time ago and just one tooth. i simply feel like my teeth are reverting right back to how they were before i had braces. i want my pretty smile back, the one that looked AWESOME. not the one that just looked ok.

all of my other post braces visits he would ask my if i was happy with my teeth, and this last time he didnt. i am just confused as to why he looked at my teeth, and didnt say anything then, because you can see that they have moved.

ok well i have to do some Calculus HW....funnn

Maybe because he saw it too, but didn't want to tell it to you then.

Whatever may be necessary, possible or doable, you should at least indeed see
him and talk about this. He offered you could come in whenever you wanted,
then grasp this chance with both your hands. Also bring those retainers when
you see him. Especially the first one you had will be very interesting.

I'm also quite shy...or at least I was before I turned 40...Image
I would make an appointment and go in and say that you are worried that your lower teeth have moved.

They will clearly see that they have.

Then you can make decissions once you are shown the options.

Did you stop wearing the Essex because the doc told you to? I would have thought that bonded retainer would have held everything quite fast! That's what I have and I"m worried now!!!

Lala..
I would call right away and make an appointment. Tell them you need to be evaluated for how much tooth movement you are having. Take your retainers with you (the ones that don't fit!) and have them remade to fit your bite so that your teeth stop moving! It's not too late to stop the movement and correct things! You've got to get those retainers fixed asap and start wearing them so that your teeth don't continue to relapse. If you cannot afford to have the retainers remade I am sure that they will work out a payment plan for you. Don't be shy....they are there to help you that is their job!

my lower teeth were held in place for a while, but then bonded retainer broke and my teeth shifted. well one tooth mostly...he said that since it was so far back b4 that the tooth was ok there. i think since then tons of my teeth have shifted. i can tell you right now how many things are wrong

-my top teeth are not alligned like they were when my braces came off.....the height changed
-the....imm i dont know what you would call it...the arch of my teeth....has changed
-my bottom teeth are shifting
-the arch down there is quite narrow....

my essix retainers never covered the last tooth in the back....so when i wore them and then took them out the last teeth would be too high and i couldnt bite down....i wear my top retainer at night(one that i got made after my top teeth shifted some) and it kills.....i wish i had never gotten an essix retainer...if i could choose again i would have gotten a hawley.

i will not be able to go and see him untill next tuesday....i will post my original before and after pictures prob on friday so everyone can see what i started with, what i ended with and then now.....so everyone can see exactly what im talking about

thank you all sooo much

I had some significant movement in 2 of my upper teeth within 3 months of having my braces removed. This was clear to both my ortho and me. I ended up with braces again on the top only, no charge. I really don't think he/she would charge you again since it hasn't been years.

Ya, what you had WAS PERFECTION!!!

Being shy doesn't mean you should just let bad things happen to you! That's one thing I learned way too late in my life.

Try to be assertive about this!!!! You will kick yourself forever if you don't. I am pleased to see that you have plans to bring it up when you go back in.

Hon- you deserve the best, ask for it!!!

What I would do, is go in asap. Your teeth have shifted. I could tell just by looking at the first picture that they weren't right, and I haven't even been to school for orthodontics yet. So you really need to get that checked out. As for getting braces again, you might have to. Well if your orthodontist accepts payments, then I would talk to him or her. If you go ahead and do it now, the price isn't going to be that much. The longer you wear braces, the more it will cost. Like we all said, get it checked out.

ok here is another question. what is the policy on relapse....so some ortho's pay for braces if relapse occurs???

ok well thank you so much for your opinion...it really helps. i talk to the people around me and they just say....oh they look fine. but i KNEW that they changed and i know that some change now can result in LOTS of change later. its like going downhill....it may be slow....but its still getting worse and worse each year.

THANK you to everyone for their opinion and their helpful hints on not being so shy.

KEEP THE OPINIONS COMING! thanks so much all
