fellow canadians i need your input

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

fellow canadians i need your input

#1 Post by starryeyedfairy »

Hello All,
I am completing treatment of my braces within no more than 6 months to go (yay) and this leads to the cost/type of retainers that I will be bestowed with.

I'm aware that cost/prices vary to a broad degree regarding orthodontic treatment, but I was just wondering what kind of ball park should I prepare myself for walking into.

so please if you will fellow canadians, would you please give me an idea of the cost you paid for your retainers...

Bonded, Essix, Hawley

(the cost of retainers were not included in my treatment synopsis)

p/s I live in a major metropolitan area

I do know that essex are cheaper than hawley if that helps.

Though I don't know how much they cost. Replacement cost for my Hawley is $260 (USD). My ortho makes the essex in-house for about $80 (USD).

Hope someone can help you out more than I have! My retainers were included in my initial price.

My retainers are included in my price. But my splint retainer was 500 bucks.

what exactly is a splint retainer?
sorry for my lack of dental/orthodontic vocabulary/knowledge
and why did you have to pay extra 500 dollars for it, if you don't mind me asking
so you use this splint retainer as well as your other/regular retainer?

p/s lol sorry once again for my massive confusion/ignorance on the topic of retainers

I wore a splint retainer before I was braced for 4 months to help with my TMJ. I paid $500 for it, but if I decided to get braced it would be included with my braces price. .
