Hi there,
I used to be a long time lurker and occasional poster on this board while I was undergoing treatment and I remember promising another board member I would post pictures of my teeth once I'd completed the treatment, so here they are! They're only 8 months overdue...

Quick backstory for those of you who're interested: Two upper premolar extractions in April 2005, fitted with a Hawley the same month to push the incisors back into the space the same month. The Hawley had a plate as well to correct my 100% overbite. July 2005, had my lower incisors filed and lower permanent brace fitted. January 2006, the top braces were fitted. I had elastics for about 4 months but I can't remember exactly when. Despite the horror stories courtesy of my flatmate, I never once pinged someone in the face with them.
Debanded in July 2007. Since then I've worn an Essix retainer at night, which has held up remarkably well, since I can often grind my teeth in my sleep.
Personally, the whole process was quite pain free. I had just started university when I began the treatment, and any fears I had of the braces getting in the way of a normal uni life were utterly unfounded; no one gave a damn! Thinking back, it was rather silly of me to think otherwise, but I guess you're self concious enough as it is when you're not confident with your smile. So the very best of luck to those of you starting or currently in the middle of it, it'll be sooo worth it in the end!
Even today, 8 months on, I've got the biggest cheese...
