I'm loving the nakedness!

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

I'm loving the nakedness!

Well I had my debanding this morning.
Is went relatively well, a bit rough with the pulling but nothing to what I imagined it would be like!
Everyone always said their teeth look huge when their braces come off....I was surprised to find my look extremely tiny! I had forgotten how small my teeth actually were! Even my orthodonist was suprised and said they were some of the smallest adult teeth he's ever seen!
So I went and had my first braces free meal, I was nervous at first but it really did feel wonderful!
Four hours later I went and picked up my vacuform retainers, 24/7 for the first three days and 12 hours per day after that.
Everything sounds relatively nice compared to the sentences I've heard on here before!
My ortho did say I needed veneers and ginivital recontouring (or something along those lines)(together these would cost me another $2500...yikes!). I'm fine the way my teeth look now so I'm thinking of leaving it that way!

I'll be sure to update in a couple of days!
Toodles!

Unfortunetly there wasn't much around and I had to stay in the area to wait for my retainers (the ortho is about an hours drive from my home).
So I was stuck eating burger king...but wow, it does feel so incredibly good to eat without braces!

***UPDATE***
First night sleeping with retainers in was a very long night. They were very painful to wear as the night drew on. My ortho warned me of this but of course I didn't listen because when I first got them, they felt fine. I'm off to buy some Aleve for tonight!

Oh no! Yeah I had some soreness after getting my retainers, it felt about the same as a "big" adjustment and only lasted a day or two. Hope you feel better tonight and CONGRATS on the new smile!! Yay!
