Gift for ortho office?

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

Gift for ortho office?

#1 Post by braced4asmile »

Did anyone give a gift to the ortho office at debanding? I've heard of people doing that. If so, what do you give?

My ortho's office squeezed me in this week to remove my braces because I had a scheduling conflict with a business trip & vacation for the next couple of weeks.

Since I'm going to pick up my retainers on Tuesday, I though I'd bring in a nice bouquet of tulips or other nice spring flowers (since we're just getting the spring weather in MN) and a hand made thank you card to show my appreciation for their great service and my beautiful new smile (that I have had LOTS of compliments on)!

I was in the waiting room yesterday and noticed a former patient also gave them a book for their waiting room titled Ripley's Believe it or Not. Make fo some interesting reading while you're waiting for your regular torture appointment. A nice book for the reception area might be a nnice idea too!

I had an edible arrangement delivered to my ortho's office the day of my debanding. When I went back that afternoon to pick up my Essix retainer, all of the assistants hugged me. They particularly liked the chocolate dipped strawberries (who doesn't).

I brought in a platter of my creamy PB/Chocolate fudge. They sent me a card signed by everyone in the office thanking me for it!

I baked my ortho's office cupcakes. It was really an apology for aggravating them to no end after I got my retainer:) I was SO paranoid!!! lol

I had an assistant assigned to me the last yr of my treatment and she was great. So at my debanding I got my assistant and ortho some godiva chocolates. They both really liked them and they were well deserved after putting up with me.
Got my braces off 9/20/07 after 19 months and 3 weeks. WOOOOOOHOOOOO!!

When I first had braces, as a kid, my mum got the ortho a pen. A proper, Mont Blanc, quality pen. It's sort of normal in the UK to get someone a bottle of their favourite tipple - but he didn't drink! And everyone needs a pen. So maybe a nice pen (maybe not as extreme as a Mont Blanc), but just something a little more classy than your average pen. I was the last of her 3 kids to be treated, so I suppose he was worth a fancy pen! I met him about 3 days ago and he was surprised to see me in braces again (I didn't mention the lack of retainer wear he suggested!), and he still has the pen in his office, and uses it to put his signature on things every time. A nice pen lats forever, and he will always remember who gave it to him!

I should probably point out that my ortho was a "visiting" ortho, one day a week at the dentist's office - so no assistants to buy for! Maybe a pen for your ortho, and something smaller (or more edible!) for the assistants?

I brought my ortho's office a fruit platter, nothing fancy, just like one of those cut fruit platters for snacking at lunch in their breakroom. I picked it up while I waiting for my Essix retainers to be made along with a thank you card - it was nothing big but they really seemed to like it.

I plan to crochet something for each of the 2 doctors in the office, then make little keyrings for all of the office staff or something --- maybe bookmarks. Idealy, I want to make something for the office that can be hung up (as I crochet wall hangings too).

I work at an oral surgeon's office, as most of you know, and WE LOVE ANYTHING EDIBLE!!!! You don't know how much good stuff we get around Christmas time!!! YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! Donuts, edible arrangements, cookies, brownies, streusals, chocolates, truffles, breakfast burritos, etc etc. We love it all! And a nice thank you note will get hung on our bulletin board. We have a "Cheers and Jeers" section in our local newspaper, and we had a patient write into them about how awesome our office was, and that was totally awesome!!!
