Teeth Whitening??
I'm getting my braces off on May 12th after having them on for 2 years, 2 months, and 29 days. I am wanting to get my teeth professionally whitened and was wondering what other people's experiences have been. Are your teeth pretty sore afterwards? If so, how long? Which whitening method is the best? I would like to set up an appointment for the next day, but I'm not sure how my mouth is going to feel. Thanks for your input.

I was just a little bit sore for a couple of days while I adjusted to my retainer. It felt about the same as any other adjustment, really. I bought a professional at-home whitening kit from my ortho that I can use with my essix retainers and started whitening right away. I had nice pearly whites about a week after getting de-braced!

Braces on 2/1/2007, Removed 2/13/2008, now in Essix retainers.

The first time I had braces my ortho did Zoom whitening on me after I got them off, but he made me wait about a month to make sure that things were settled and healthy and I had no swelling or bleeding. It made my teeth a little sensitive for a few days but the results were amazing. You might want to postpone that whitening appt. for a few weeks at least. Otherwise, you might be a little too irritated for comfort.
