Retainer with Sensor?

#1 Post by LHBraces »

Has anyone tried that retainer with a microsensor that was on the Today Show a few weeks ago yet? I would like to get one for my son when he gets his braces off in a few months.

I see it as something useful for when a child has already shown problems with wearing their retainer as much as they should, it's nice to be able to hold them accountable for when they're not supervised - I also think that they should then be rewarded if they improve their wear time after getting it! Might be a waste on a kid who'd be diligent anyway without it tho.

And all of this won't matter once the kids figure out a way to "hack" it, because you know they will!

But yeah, probably not something for the adults, haha ;)

I was thinking the very same thing. But I can also imagine this. The first hacker
did make an error. The ortho asks how it is possible to wear a retainer 36 hours
a day. Uhmmm ....

Haha good point, Clo!

This new sensor device does seem like a good idea...Looking back I wish they had had such a thing when I was a teenager...might have prevented me from ending up back in braces as an adult!
