Done at last!

#1 Post by jesspenguin »

I just had my brackets removed two hours ago. I still can't believe that I have such great looking teeth now. They don't even feel like mine :) Removing the brackets was quick and mostly painless. Removing the cement was a little more tedious and annoying, but it wasn't too bad. I go back next Wednesday to pick up my retainers for night time.

I'm really excited to show off my smile to all my friends this weekend on July 4th because a bunch of them have never known me without braces. My boyfriend got to see me for the first time with no braces this morning.

I'm going to treat myself to a burrito for lunch today. It'll be wonderful not having to pick tortilla out of my brackets for hours afterwards :)

Congrats!!!

My first meal after I got my braces off was a chicken quesadilla and chips and it was awesome not to pick chips and stuff out my braces, but felt so weird!!!

Enjoy!!!

Congrats! Enjoy that burrito too. Even though I only had my braces for a little over a year, I completely forgot the joy of not having food stuck in my teeth.

I'm still not used to not having anything on my teeth (on the front at least). I still find myself checking for food that got stuck or making sure my elastics are still there. Brushing for the first time felt so strange because the brush just slid so smoothly across my teeth instead of meeting resistance.

Here are some before and after pics, as well as pictures of the molds they took at my first appointment.

I still need to have some gum removed over that one incisor, and my newly erupted canine is pretty yellow, but over all I'm very pleased with the results and happy to finally be free :)
