Hawley & Essix Retainers.. anyone have both
I'm jumping the gun here.. I am almost a month into treatment... Just planning ahead for when these darn braces come off... I was wondering if anyone requested or their orthodontist recommended having a hawley and an essix retainer to alternate between. I definitely want a bonded lower. But I am not taking any chances this time for a relapse! I want to make sure those teefers are not going to move again!!

Hey I'm getting my braces off by June 2013. My orthodontist gives out both, but it's if it's because she's in Boston gets rich people therefore there is more funding. But anywho, she said there are both so the patients can choose, she'd rather the Hawley's be used because they're better and work better. But she'd rather have them wear essix over not wearing them at all.

I'll be getting Hawley for the upper and Essix for the lower. Or so the ortho says.
We'll see how that works out.

I had essix temporaries, then Hawleys. My teeth started to shift in the Hawleys, so I went back the Essix (top and bottom).
I have been told Hawleys work "better" because they allow the teeth to settle, but in my case the settling was less straight.

I will be having an upper bonded (upper arch treament) as well as an Essix. I think that the Essix is not only chosen for the appearance but because I have had alot of issues with bruxing.
I am due my fixed brace off within the next month or so and have been wearing a removable bite plate too at night, which has also prevented me from bruxing throughout my treatment.
