After braces home whitening kit

I just picked up the whitening kit from my dentist today so gonna start tonight. It's a 15% peroxide gel that goes into my essix retainers.

My question is, do I have to avoid dark food/coffee/red wine for the 2 weeks I am home whitening? I know that you have to avoid these for a day after in house whitening and I was wondering if it's the same with the home kits.
