Fixing Front Tooth Gap: Bonding vs. Permanent Retainer

Hello!

Question Dental bonding or permanent retainer to fix space in two front teeth... What would you chose? (long term choice, not for a quick fix)

I told my orthodontist months after getting my braces off I saw a space form in my two top front teeth. I have hawley retainers and no permanent retainers so his solution was simple. Wear my Hawley retainer full time for 6 months and it should be fixed. If not, he will using bonding to make the space in my two front teeth seems non existent. I'm not sure how I feel about bonding though... Which would be more maintenance?

When it comes down to it, I really want MY teeth to be as good as they can be, without any enhancements that are fake additions to my teeth. So i'm thinking I should get a permanent retainer and wear that for a few years. Afterwards I can take that off and continue with my Hawley retainer as nigh wear to maintain the perfect position the permanent retainer helped me retain.

In your experience/knowledge which would you chose? My current ortho seems very against permanent retainers all together... Yet other clinics prescribe them for each of their clients during their retention phase of getting their braces off... The last thing I want here is the quick fix. I had braces for 5 years so I'm well adjusted to the thought of waiting for something great to come.

I'd choose permanent retainers for sure. I have two giant spaces on the side of my upper laterals and will need bonding because they are too small...I hate the thought of having some half fake teeth as well.
