Braces are off

#1 Post by Bakey »

Well at last after 23 months my braces came off yesterday and permanent retainers were fitted. Just got back from getting my removable essix retainers from the orthodontist and I need to wear them all the time (apart from eating) for 2 months then just overnight. I might keep them on all the time for a bit longer though, or gradually scale down the amount of time I wear them. My speech isn't as bad as I'd feared with them on either. She did say I can keep them on when drinking but is this wise for tea? I drink it strong and I'm worried about discolouring.

Definite no to the tea. Congrats on completing your active treatment. Hope you're happy with the results.

Thanks & I'm very happy. Thought it was odd when she said I could drink anything as always read online hot drinks are a no no when wearing essix retainers. I'm having a mug of tea with a meal or straight afterwards before I clean my teeth and put the retainers back on.
