Hip Hip Hooraay Glowstix!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations!!! All of you who have gotten your braces off are making me so excited for my date! Were your teeth sore after getting them off? I'm trying to decide if I will be able to eat corn on the cob the day I get my braces off. Yeah for you again!!!

thanks guys..i'm loving my new look so far. i keep running my tongue along my teeth expecting to feel brackets and bands but NO!! they're smooth
its really wierd after 27 months, like i forgot what this felt like. funny how i thought my teeth were ugly with the brackets were still on but when they came off it was like, "WWHHOOAAAAA"!!
when i got there today, there was a long wait since they were short staffed. when my turn finally came, i couldn't stop smiling. they used this weird tool to take off the bands. putting the bands on a year and a half ago was such a pain but taking them off took less than 5 minutes. the tool was almos like a pliers but the end was round and it snapped the bands off. then they just seemingly picked the brackets off one by one and in less than no time i was naked..in front of everybody!!
then the doc came and used this motorized tool to take the excess glue off. this hurt!! i think my gums were even bleeding when i brushed. he wasn't really gentle. i was glad to get that over with.
next there was picture taking and x-rays..and then....the MOLDS!! this time i had cinammon flavoured stuff! doesn't matter the flavour, its still stuff!! but i overcame the gagging by deep breathing. i had to get 3 molds. i was glad when that was over!! the entire appt lasted about an hour and a half because of the delays.
i get my retainers on monday.
i' m a bit worried about relapse but then again, i'm not their first patient so i'm sure it will be ok..they know what they're doing..

thanks..doglover1395 wrote:CONGRATS GLOWSTIX!!! I'm so happy for you... You must be thrilled to look in the mirror and see straight teeth for once instead of brackets! Well eat lots of sticky foods and enjoy your new smile
i've already had my butterfinger after 2 years; now i'm off for some corn on the cob and maybe an apple or two..

today i got my essix retainer
and there really wasn't that much i had to get used to. since i went the weekend without anything it felt tight in the beginning but after an hour or so (even less) i'm used to it.
its pretty tight and it feels so fragile, i'm really scared that i'll break it..
i really don't know how i'm going to live with this..the constant taking it out and putting it back in and the threat of losing/breaking it..
time will tell...

ok, today i got my hawleys' and right now i'm constantly gagging!!
and they don't exactly look right; doesn't seem to fit but i'll see how it goes. good thing i don't have to wear them to eat.
meanwhile i got a nasty burn in my mouth. last week i was at a restaurant and the food was really hot and i bit into it and aaaaaaggggghhhhhh!!!
now i have some tender spots in my mouth to go along with the retainers and this really really sucks!!
