Today's the day!

#1 Post by cookie »

Well, this has come round quite quickly (although at the same time it feels like I've been wearing braces forever!) - in 2 hours I'll be in the chair at the ortho having my top braces removed After 18 months I'm really happy with how my teeth look - though I am going to ask him to shape my left canine a bit as it's a lot more pointy than my right one.

I'm getting my braces (ceramics) removed at 1020, and whilst I'm excited, I'm also a bit aprehensive - to be honest I'd compare it to the feeling I had prior to being braced Then at 1520 I'm going back to get my Essix retainer.

Cannot wait!

Thanks guys :D I've been walking around like this  all the time since yesterday!

First of all he put my bonded retainer on behind my front two teeth (this will hopefully stop them ever trying to cross over again), then he took the brackets off - he had a new tool for removing ceramics which he brought back from the US (it's not available in the UK yet) - I was the first patient he'd used them on, and they came off very, very easily. Then there was about 10 minutes of getting rid of the glue and stuff off my teeth before I finally got to look in the mirror - wow (although it's true what eberyone says - your teeth look HUGE!) Then it was time for impressions.

Went back 5 hours later and got my Essix retainer, which is causing me to lisp ever so slightly, but it's getting better. I have to wear it 24/7 for the next month, then only at nights.

Going back for a check on my top teeth and a lower adjustment in 8 weeks (was meant to be 5, but my ortho's on holidays, then when he comes back I'm away on mine)
