I haven't even got braces yet (that's coming up very soon!) but my orthodontist says after braces I will need a permanent bonded retainer behind my top two front teeth.
I have "gap teeth" like Madonna or David Letterman
So I've met folks with bonded retainers on their lower teeth, but not with their top teeth.
Any experiences? Does it affect your lifestyle in any way? (speech, eating)
Thanks!

I have a bonded retainer behind my top two front teeth (as well as an Essix) - it's there to stop my teeth from trying to overlap again. Felt a bit weird for the first few hours - kept running my tongue over it, but it's fine now - ok so I'm wearing my Essix over it 24/7 just now, so that means I can't feel it, but it's not a problem when I don't have my Essix in either. I only have a slight lisp when I have my Essix in, and talk completely normally when I have only my bonded in my mouth. As for eating - no difference at all.
Only thing I haven't figured out is how to floss between my front teeth - can't do it yet!

I agree with cookie, it felt strange (no more strange than having your braces off!) for the first few hours, but I really like mine and don't notice it now. I have heard that bonded retainers are the easiest to get used to
Damon 2's top and bottom, BRACED 02/22/04 and REMOVED 08/29/05. Now in bonded retainers (top and bottom) :4 wisdom teeth surgically removed on 12/22/05:
