what did u find the hardest to deal with braces or retainer?

Duffle - I know this is an old thread but I"m wondering why I'm reading so many posts about having bonded permanent retainers AND also having to wear essix. I didn't want those, I asked for hawleys - and I have an upper one but none for my lowers. My ortho said the bonded was enough. Now I'm wondering if it really is. LOL!

I am getting my braces off in 2 weeks, and I can't imagine the retainers being any worse. At least you don't have to dig the food off your teeth and brackets after every meal!! And you can take them out for short periods of time (eating, brushing, photos, etc)
I think my ortho uses the clear (Essex) kind, but not sure yet.
