Crest White strips with a retainer???

HI. I should be getting my braces off in just a couple weeks. I want to whiten my teeth using Crest white strips. But obviously I will have to wear my retainer all day long. So is it possible to wear those strips while wearing the retainer?

I had a hygenist tell me that her husband used some time of tooth whitening only on his top front 6 teeth. He was dissappointed because those teeth looked dazzling, but the others were still yellow. I'd think anything the strip doesn't contact wouldn't get whitenened. If whitestrips were used with a bonded lingual retainer you're probably okay, but with a Hawley with the wire in front of your teeth probably not. You probably won't sink your progress if you take out the retainer for a half an hour of whitening each day. I take mine off to brush and whiten with no ill effects. If you're worried about taking it out, you may just want to wait until you're done wearing it all day.

I had mine professionally done by a dentist as soon as I got my braces off. They only required 1 or 2 weeks for 1hr a day...... and the results were staggering! I did have one filling change color, or actually, become more noticable, so I had to have that replaced. Now I do it about once a month. Now that I have the trays.....I can just get the gel from my dentist when I run out.

Shane- is it safe to whiten each month? I think the crest white strips are only once every 6 months.

I wouldn't wear the strips while wearing the retainer. You only have to wear the strips like 20 min a day right? You will be ok without a retainer for that long...like eating...right?
