Hey everyone,
I went back to the ortho to get my retainer fixed because i felt that the last adjustment was way too tight and it pushed my canines back a little too far. Anyhow, he made the top hawley really loose to the point that the wire doesnt touch my canine at all... is that normal? I am thinking maybe by relieving all the pressure the tooth will go back to where it was before the last adjustment pushed it back too far? Any insight is appreciated.

When they loosened my top hawley every part of the wire touched but it was loose enough to wiggle up and down. It did not change the bite tremendously only a bit.
Perhaps your ortho wants the canine to come out a bit.
Was he aware that the wire was not touching the tooth?

He didnt mention it specifically, but he did say that it would feel loose. He also kept putting it in and taking it out to perfect it, so i assume he saw what position the wire was in. I did mention to him that my canines seem to be a little out of place, so i was thinking maybe the wire doesnt touch that tooth to allow it to move out a bit?? He seemed pretty thourough with readjusting the retainer. He also saw my bite was off, so he said he loosened that side to allow my teeth to settle, so the back left side molars touch again....
