My mouth cant close with this retainer

My molars dont touch because I cant bite down all the way. Is this how all Hawley retainers are?

I can't bite down completely either because of wires that sit where my canines interlock.

I pointed this out to my ortho upon receipt and was brushed off. Apparently it is not a concern.

Yes my retainer looks like that one in the link, but with less acrylic in front. You cant see the acrylic head on when its in, but still i cant bite down all the way. my bottom teeth are in the way.
Mine has a pontic (fake tooth ) attached, and ortho said something about how they made it thicker so i wont bite the fake tooth off.....im not 12, im sure i could have handeled something thinner......
oh well, ill see her in 6 weeks, and we shall see.......
