Essix retainer not tight or difficult to remove :S

#1 Post by mogwai »

I received my retainer for my lowers 2 days ago, and they are not especially tight. After reading posts on here from people saying that they are finding it very difficult to remove these, Im worried that mine may not be supportive enough?? :?

I can remove these pretty easily just by pushing up on one side, and there is no tight feeling anymore, although there was on the first day.

I got these the day after my lowers were removed - don't know if that makes a difference, but I have noticed a small gap already developing between my lower canine and the one behind it! Can this be fixed later by permanent retainers?

Your teeth shouldn't be moving with the wearing of a retainer, whether permanent or removable. A hawley or essix retainer is not supposed to be removed that easily. You need to get that checked and see what your orthodontist and dentist thinks about it. Both of my retainers for my top aren't really tight, but they aren't easily removed either.
