Tooth Positioner causing bleeding?

Tooth Positioner causing bleeding?

#1 Post by cybersiren »

Ok, I've had my braces off since yesterday morning and I'm instructed to wear a tooth positioner for 5 hours a day plus while I'm sleeping. My problem is that when I wear the postioner, I have a couple teeth that bleed just a little bit. I floss well and have started doing salt water rinses. Do you think it is just a little irritated with the removal process and the new appliance, or should I be worried? My dentist pointed out a little swelling but said that since my braces are off now things should be easier to clean and that it should go down in a few days. But at that point I hadn't noticed the bleeding. Should I wait it out or let my ortho know what's up?

If the bleeding stops quickly and is decreasing each time, I'd continue with the salt water rinses and see how it goes.
