Okay the braces are off

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

Okay the braces are off

16 months and I'm pretty much done, but I still have to wear an upper hawley for 2 months non-stop before I can switch to nights only. I opted for a bonded lower. Wow it feels so different without braces and I have to say the retainer kind of dampens the excitement because it is so bulky and odd-feeling in my mouth, but I'm counting on getting used to it or it's gonna be a long two months.

And don't worry - you shoule get used to that retainer quite quickly.
True! I can't sleep without mine...sort of like a security blankie I think...

similarly, I am wearing an essix 24/7 for three months, then night time only, lower bonded. Hmmm, hope it retains! What are the 'ortho' guidelines???? 12 months full time retainer wear?
