I lost my Essex Retainer...

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

I lost my Essex Retainer...

#1 Post by honzipe »

I've had my braces off for about 18 months now and I still wear my Essex retainer every night. I came home from college a few weeks ago only to have my dog eat my retainer (i had gotten lazy with leaving them laying around while at school). My dilemma is that while I have a spare set, they are sitting 150 miles away in my apartment at school. I was planning on traveling back for the weekend to see some friends in about 3 weeks but, much to my horror, my teeth have already started to shift a bit from not wearing them for even a few nights. After 18 months is it alright to wait the 3 weeks to go back to my apartment or should I just go to my ortho and get a new set now?

Call the office and see what would be cheaper -- the gas to go back and get them or having them make you a new set?

When I was at my most recent adjustment the girl a few chairs over was getting a new retainer because her dog ate her retainer. Some dogs must eat more than homework.
