Victor36: Officially Naked As Of 1 July 2008!

#1 Post by victor36 »

Hi everybody,

Well, I guess this forum thread will be my new home! I am officially naked after 16 months of treatment in braces. My teeth are a little tender, but I am okay. I will be picking up my Essix retainers tomorrow. Will post pics soon!

Congrats on debanding!!! You must be thrilled. I am getting my braces off August 1st and it seems like its so far away : )

I checked out your braces story - thanks for pointing out that you photoshopped your white teeth. It made me feel a little jealous for a couple seconds : )

You mention that you were thinking of getting gum contouring - is this still your plan? I have a similar situation, except my gums are fine on one of the "incisors" (I think) but it is much lower on the tooth on the other side. I'm curious what you decided to do.

Congrats again, can't wait to see your naked teeth, looking at your previous postings I can tell they will look awesome!!!!!

Hi Pearls! I am very happy with the end result. Any improvement was better than the train wreck that I had before. Yesterday, I looked in my chart to remind myself why I put myself through this. What a drastic difference, especially with the upper laterals. I would like to whiten my teeth though. (And no my teeth are not as white as my pictures; that's all done with Photoshop--'how much whiter can they possibly get?' haha) I'm hoping that the Essex retainers can double as bleaching trays.

Hi Lionfish! Thanks for your kind words. Dr. F. said that if I really wanted to be a perfectionist, he would have liked to have seen me in braces on for 8 additional weeks for some minor 'tweaking' which would have made the total treatment time almost 19 months... No thanks! I think that my teeth look okay, even with some very minor imperfections. I will post pics soon so you can see what I'm talking about.

Hi BoSox2008! August 1st will be here before you know it. Now that the braces are off, I'm not quite sure if I still want to do gum contouring. I may change my mind in a few months, but as of right now, I'm just enjoying my brace-free smile.

Stay tuned for my pics!

OH and I asked if the Essix retainers can be used for OTC bleaching, and the Ortho Assistant said no. Bummer.

Thank you, purpleteeth and jmrut22!!!

I should have mentioned that my teeth only look as white as they do thanks to Photoshop... otherwise they're a normal, human color LOL!

perhaps I should go against the Ortho Assistant's advice and still try to use my retainers as bleaching trays... hmmm.... tempting.... haha

Hi Joney! Thank you for your nice compliments! I am finding myself smiling a lot more now, and checking my teeth in any reflective surface I can find... Not being narcissistic; just making sure that they really are straight now... I had crooked teeth for 36 years so it's still kind of hard to believe... pinch me! HAHA
