Follow up appointments after braces

Hi

I currently have Invisalign braces. Just wondering if people generally need to keep going to their orthos for long after finishing braces? Is it just a case of getting you retainers and then you're finished with appointments? Or do people usually have to keep going back for a while to make sure teeth are being retained?

My "life after braces" instruction sheet says I will be going twice a year for two years then once a year as long as the bonded retainers are in. After that, I'm not sure. I'd be interested to see what others' experiences have been.
