Extreme throat pain after SonicBrite cleaning

#1 Post by CNickyD »

Hi everyone,

I just started using SonicBrite at night, and when I wake up in the morning, my throat hurts so much I can hardly talk. Is this the persulfates bothering me? Or am I possibly not rinsing the retainers enough after the SonicBrite treatment??

Thanks!
Carleen

If you used the product according to the instructions, and you rinsed your retainers well after soaking them, it is probaby something other than the SonicBrite. Sore throats are going around this time of year.

No, it was definitely the SonicBrite. Stopped using it and sore throat went away. And I know what an illness feels like.

Thanks for your response.

You could be sensitive to Persulfate. Many cleaners, including denture tablets, contain the chemical. You might be better off using a retainer cleaner that is persulfate-free, such as DentaSoak or Cleanse Freshen Go.

A small percentage of people are sensitive to Persulfate. Most people don't have any problems with denture cleaners, or Sonic Brite or Retainer Brite. You might want to do a test by trying the SonicBrite again, rinse your retainer really well, and see if the sore throat returns.
