Hello

i havent posted in a while! I got my ceramic top braces off this morning woo hoo! my teeth feel very strange! and they look HUGE! well to me anyway!

i wonder if any of you can tell me if you can get your cuspids filed down to make them less pointy? i feel like a vampire right now!

my friend says they didnt even notice how pointy they are but i really notice it!

any advise would be appreciated!

I'm not a professional or anything, but from a personal experience case, a friend of mine had very sharp vampire-like canines. He had Invisalign done (which was a complete waste since his teeth relapsed within 6 months in regard to spacing problems he had before Invisalign) and when he finished treatment his orthodontist filed his teeth to make them look even. Now he still has sharper canine teeth than most people but it runs in his family, but he looks a lot nicer than before and less scary vampire-like. I don't know if a dentist or a orthodontist has to do the filing but in his case the orthodontist did.

When I had my braces taken off, my orthodontist also filed just a little bit to even out any ridges along the teeth, it was barely noticeable.

When I was nearing the end of my first round of Invisalign, I realized that I had freakishly long and pointy fangs. I never thought so before, I guess they were more noticeable when my teeth were straight or something.

At the end of my treatment when I got the attachement removed and my teeth cleaned I pointed out to my ortho that the canines were kinda prominent and asked if he could file them down a bit, which he did in a second (and even for free).

I also have a friend who got her regular dentist to file down her canines because they bothered her (I never noticed btw!). I don't know what he charged though, but at least it seems like it's a quick and easy thing to do for any dentist.

Yes you can have your teeth contoured after your treatment (sometimes it is done during treatment too)

My orthodontist contoured mine slightly after my braces were removed. There is only so much they can do, but still it helped. I know what you are saying about the "big" teeth. I felt like I looked like Jim Carrey from "The Mask" after, but my friends assured me I did not!
