Essix retainer doesen`t fit?

Yeeey! I got my braces off a week ago! 
I got an essix retainer, but it seems like it doesen`t fit!? Because it`s like a space between my teeth and the bottom of the retainer. And I feel that my teeth have shifted a little... Is this normal?
