my teeth are 'itchy'....

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

my teeth are 'itchy'....

#1 Post by alimommy1 »

I added this post to my braces story but I think I'll complain here too :?
I have no idea what is wrong but my teeth hurt, they feel 'itchy'. My retainer went to the lab on Wed and now it's Mon, I wasn't wearing it 24/7 but a good portion of every day and every night. I don't know if this is a 'normal' feeling or not because I sure don't remember this 13 years ago. I wonder if I might be grinding my teeth during sleep or something.

Weird...my teeth feel itchy too, just on one side at the top. I've been debraced one week and wearing my Essix 24/7. Had them out for about 1.5 hrs this evening (having dinner) and the top felt tight when i replaced it and now I have that itchy feeling like I did when first braced. Am assuming the 'itchy' teeth moved a little and now am feeling pressure now the retainer is holding them in the original position?

When I first replaced my retainer in April, my teeth felt fine. Now that I've been wearing it, they almost feel loose without it. I called the office but they are closed today so I'll call them in the morning. It's a really odd feeling...

I can identify with that too - my teeth feel 'vulnerable' without the retainer in, it is an odd feeling. I've only been debraced a week today (must change my ticker animation thingie!!)

I have my retainer back.... but now it is 'active', so it is super tight when I put it in, and then it's fine.. until I take it out lol. I am still finding that it feels better on, maybe that's a good thing.
