after braces half my bite is gone

The rear teeth don't touch each other anymore. There is a gap when I clench my teeth. Only the teeth around the canines touch. Front teeth don't touch either: bottom half of upper front teeth ended up in front of lower front teeth, like a rodent. But I am worried about the fact that my rear teeth don't touch anymore. How am I supposed to properly chew food if only a few teeth touch when I clench my teeth?

My ortho said that my back teeth will shift into place after awhile. My retainer doesn't cover them and I've noticed that they are aligning better now after 4 weeks. That may be the same with you.
My retainer holds all my front teeth in place and the back ones will find thier spot naturally. (He said)

what I meant to say is that my upper molars don't touch my lower molars when I clench my teeth. There is a huge gap in between that was not there before I got braces.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Regarding front teeth, I believe thats the way they are; they are not supposed to be naturally touching. When you bite, and move your jaw, thats when they are supposed to touch.

The molars not touching --- that is wierd. Have you talked to your ortho about this?

I have a severe deep bite and my ortho has worked to create gaps between my upper and lower molars so they can grow in and will eventually touch. I'm presently wearing upper and lower partial Essix retainers that don't cover my molars.

I agree with the suggestion that you discuss this with your Ortho to see if this is part of the treatment plan. In my case, I was told at start of treatment this would be the final step.
