Metal Mouth Message Board

I had my braces taken off 3 months ago. It feels like my molars don't touch. Is this normal? I plan to ask my orthodontist about this during my next appointment. Anyone else in the same boat?

My molars all touch with the exception of one of my upper premolars. It was moved to close a gap I had due to extractions and was a bit too short to touch my bottom teeth. I asked my ortho about this and he told me that it would move naturally to close the gap between top and bottom. I've been keeping an eye on it, and what was originally a 3mm gap between top and bottom tooth is now about 1mm, so looks like it's doing exactly as he said. It's taken a few months.

My molars don't touch on the left side in the back. This is because my bite was so off, that I wore down all my teeth improperly on that side of my mouth. Even though they don't touch, I can still chew food properly. Hope this helps!
