Spring retainer Question/HELP!!!!

#1 Post by pigonthego »

I'm set to get my Spring retainer next week. Hopefully someone can give me some reassurance that It should correct my issue. Do you think I'm being picky? :Questions:

So I just returned from the ortho. He filed between the lower teeth and I now have my spring retainer. It literally feels like I was punched in the mouth.

Hey pigonthego,

I hope the discomfort has subsided. Sorry I can't provide any info on spring retainers...still braced for another month or so. I certainly don't think you're being picky. After all the discomfort, and the long and expensive commitment you made to get straight teeth, you deserve to receive adequate retention measures. I'm told I'll be getting a permanent bottom retainer, but after your experience and that of others, I'm concerned it will not be sufficient to keep my teeth aligned.

BTW, congrats on your results...please keep us posted.

Hi there, I haven't been here in a couple months but I have spring retainers, they seem to be working. I think I had the same problem you did on the bottom, I received a permanent retainer too after my braces and it didn't seem to keep my teeth from shifting. Mine didn't really get out of alignment though, they just tilted OUT, which is very annoying. I don't think you're being picky at all, but I'm surprised how quickly they drifted.. that was all WITH the permanent retainer? EEEK.
