did u get your permanent retainer on same day as debanding?

I'm getting my braces off tomorrow and was just curious about this as it seems like theres going to be a lot happening in this appointment! I've been through it before but didn't get a retainer.... So cant believe its happening. Exciting!!

Congrats on your debanding!! When I got my braces removed, he put on my permanent retainers and then took off the braces on the same day. I had to go back a week later for pictures and to get my removable retainers. Good luck!!

Cool, thanks for that! How come some people need permanent and removable retainers? When I heard I'd be getting permanent ones I was like oh cool that means I wont have to worry bout the hassle of removables (coz I had an expander once and that was a pain). Anyways I guess it wont be a major, main thing is I wont have braces anymore!

I got temporary essix retainers the day of de-banding; going back for removable hawley top/bottom this week.

Whether a patient is having a permanent retainer or not, they should still be supplied with removable retainers as well. A permanent retainer is applied to the front 4-6 teeth and the removable retainers are needed to retain the other teeth in the patients mouth.
